Did you know that when someone visits your website it takes  less than 7 seconds before they decide to read or click elsewhere?

... Also If a visitor does not buy your product or service you need 7 or more contacts with them before
they are likely to buy - but with SPAM on the increase your emails are likely to get junked ; even by accident.
"Email is now no longer the only way to repeatedly contact your potential customers!"

Are your emails ending up in the Junk folder of your potential customers?
Do you want an alternative to email autoresponders that does not get you accused of spam and get you shutdown regularly, one that taps into the latest high profile audio and video technologies?

From: The studio of Spencer Westwood, creator of Podcast Responder.

STOP! If you're drowning in marketing emails and are regularly deleting or junking them from your inbox without reading them - think -  what your potential customers are also doing?

I've spent months searching for a system to replace my autoresponders that has a better optin and better read, watch or listen rate than my current systems. Don't get me wrong they do still work but Email autoresponders are not as effective as they were a couple of years ago.

Keep reading this page
to find out how you can significantly improve your chances of getting your message across to potential customers without SPAM filters and email services getting in the way.

Reality Check - You are losing customers and sales because your emails are not getting read anymore! The attention span when someone visits your website averages about 7 seconds. You can increase this with online Audio and Video Clips but once they've gone thats it - lost almost forever. They might come back if you've got lots of content for them to read or watch, but do you have hundreds of hours to create that kind of website?

In the past, offering a free product in return for a name and email address got you a way to contact them multiple times - offering useful information and enticing them to buy your products and services. You probably automated that task with an autoresponder like aweber or getresponse. Regardless of what the vendors will tell you , the truth is - it's not working as well as it used to.

The basic problem is lack of time to read everything. When I open my inbox each morning - and I guess this is likely to be the same for you - even with good filtering some SPAM still gets through. Also the number of websites sending me more information each day gets bigger and bigger as I request this special report or access to that free video... There is just no freakin' way I can read 100+ emails properly every day.
It's feels just the same when I'm  standing over the paper recyling bin sorting the junk mail out from the bills and personal snail mail.

Unfortunately this means that when someone has something useful and important to impart about their products or services it may go un-noticed and un-read completely. If you have an email list already - ask yourself, honestly -  how responsive is my list?

There is a constant struggle to get your message opened  and read - the very same problem that Direct Mail companies have had for years. Direct mail companies have tried handwritten addressed envelopes, colourful garish letters and envelopes and whole host of other things. In the online world even with HTML email and good subject lines its still getting more and more difficult to grab the attention of someone long enough to win them over as a customer.

Newsletters were a good alternative to email autoresponders but delivery by email has put them in the same filtering bucket and they don't always get read either.

About three years ago - along came a possible solution - Blogging! Blogs are pretty much online journals  but  people can comment on your website, content, posts etc.  This allowed easy collaboration between likeminded website owners and increased social proof that your information was worth reading.

It became easy to create a blog online using blogger.com and later wordpress.com. With this ease of setup though came at a price. Google liked blogs (they brought blogger.com) and so if you carefully crafted your posts with the right keywords you'd come up high on the search engines.

Almost immedaitely, blogging was abused - automated programs were  creating dummy blogs stuffed with keywords and having advertising plastered all over the place. It worked for a while  but web surfers and the search engines wised up -  last year and a whole group of people lost their income streams overnight. Were you one of them? Spamming the comments section of a blog has also become commonplace - tying up valuable time for blog owners in deleting or approving comments.

With the growth of broadband internet access - online audio, animation and video has become extremely popular. Unless you've been hiding in the backwoods for the last 12 months, the biggest impact of 2007 has been online video. The mainstream media interest and popularity of YouTube and other video sites  is absolute proof with YouTube getting millions of hits every day.

Unfortunately this leaves email marketing and communications out in the cold and it's unlikely to get any better.

It's already been proven that putting Audio or using Video on your website can massively increase sales, but when a visitor watches your video or listens to your audio message - that's it you've lost them again. .

Still it does grab their attention and increases the stickyness of your site and increases sales but it's not going to be enough in 2008.

"An online video or audio track is  only One Contact - to be really effective and improve  sales you need a way of repeatedly making contact with potential customers using this new audio and video media."

It is not difficult to put audio and video on your website, but that's only half the solution...

Free audio and video editing tools, free flash software players, free advice all over the internet on how to add A/V to a website. With just a little searching you can find tutorials explaining how to do all of this...

  • Do you want to increase your sales?
  • Do you want to get into Online Audio and Video to increase your sales?
  • Do you want to build a loyal customer base that listens to your every word and buys like wildfire from you?

What if you could create an audio or video version of your autoresponder and have it delivered un-encombered and un-filtered to potential customers automatically....

Introducing Podcast Responder

  • Dynamically creates audio and video podcast enabled RSS feeds, modifying the timestamps for each subscriber so you take back control of when and what they download.

  • Manage an unlimed number of these RSS feeds easily through a web based interface.
  • Associate an unlimted number of audio/video files associated with each feed . The only limit is your bandwidth and webhost space!

  • Support for dozens of different audio and video file formats.

Huh... How does this work and how does it increase my chances of making a Sale?

Firstly let me explain exactly how podcasting works. Then I'll explain to you what the big problem with the current systems are and how Podcast Responder is sneaky and gets round this problem to grab back some of the user's control.

A podcast is nothing more than an audio or video file stored on a webserver (yes I know that a video should be called a videocast but hey let's bundle them together the system is the same - otherwise I get confused which means you probably will too).

An end listener or watcher uses a piece of software called a podcatcher - or might even have the podcatcher features built into their browser!

On the website there is a configuration file that lists one or more of your audio files that uses RSS 2.0 xml formatting. Don't worry about the terminology - its just a text file accessable with a browser like any other web page.

The purpose of the control file is to tell the podcatching software what files have been updated and when.

Configuring the podcatching software to read this control file on a regular basis is called 'subscribing' -  like subscribing to an autoresponder. OR even like subscribing to an autoresponder - but it's not an email client!

If the control file is different from the last time the podcatcher software had a look then it works out if it needs to download the latest audio file. If it does, it downloads it to the listeners computer. Some podcatching software then copies the file over to the users iPod or Zen if its connected. The podcatching software may start up Windows Media Player or iTunes and start playing the file. This is all configured by the end user depending on how they want to use it. The beauty of this is once the listener has subscribed to a feed its completely automatic - on autopilot!

The result is that when you make the right changes to the RSS file, the podcatcher client will download the latest audio file.

Aaarg...Problem! It only downloads the latest audio file. That's fine for newsletter type podcasts or radio shows but I want to replace my autoresponder with audio. So if I've got 5 audio files listed, the podcatcher client will - by default - only download file 5. Doh!

The podcatcher software always looks in the same place for the control file so you could make a change one day after the other. Nope that won't work. It still only downloads the last one listed.

Is there a way to trick the podcatcher software into downloading the right file for the right day?

You bet there is. Using the power of php to create content on the fly Podcast Responder  automatically creates the right control file for each listener. When a listener subscribes to your control file (a feed in podcast jargon) then Podcast Responder gives it a unique name for that day. When the podcatcher software re-reads the control file, Podcast Responder works out based on the unique name, what audio files to include in the list. This means its possible to control for each listener, on a daily basis, what audio or video file is downloaded.

If someone subscribed four days ago, their control file may have audio files 1, 2,3 and 4 listed (they'll download number 4). On the same day if someone who subscribed two days ago reads the control file it will only list audio files 1 & 2 (with the intention that audio file 2 be downloaded). This is exactly the same feature as an email autoresponder where you specify how many days delay before each email is sent. The sequence stays the same, the date's they are sent are different.

Oh but  this seems all very complicated, and surely there aren't that many people using this 'podcatching client software' you may ask?

According to an article in Time magazine, Apple say there will be over 100 million iPods in ciruclation before the end of 2007. iPods are not the only devices out there though; Zen, Sony PSP and dozens of other hand held audio playback devices are playing an important role in peoples lives. Millions of people now regularly use one of these portable devices - on the way to or from work, travelling, relaxing,  or at the gym. It's quite commonplace to see people wearing headphones whilst out and about. But that doesn't even cover the millions of people who download and watch or listen directly on their PC using podcatching software.  Juice Reciever - just one of the latest podcatcher clients has been downloaded over 2.5 Million times!

Apple have also sold over a billion downloads from iTunes - CD's are being replaced slowly by music downloads and that marketplace is growing massively – witness the UK Singles Chart being topped by a download only song last year.(Crazy by Gnarls Berkley)

Want even more proof that people are actively using audio and video podcasts?

When I recently looked at Podcast Alley it listed over 34,000 registered Podcasts with nearly 2 million episodes (1 episode is 1 audio or video file). Podcast Net listed nearly 40,000 feeds. The figures are staggering. I think you'll agree That's a huge marketplace!

Just Imagine...

Imagine this. You power up your laptop or PC and connect to the internet. Automatically a piece of software on your machine checks a handful of RSS feeds you've subscribed to and if there are any new audio or video files it downloads them immediately to your iPod or other handheld device - Or it starts playing them in iTunes or Windows Media Player immediately. No email client to open, no delete or SPAM buttons – nothing. The download is there waiting for you to put your headphones on or plug in your speakers and press play. Thats how podcasting or videocasting works for the end user.

Simple, elegant, transparent and fast.

Because downloading audio and video is a relatively new thing - unsullyed by SPAM or filtering, most people will press play, they will listen and your message will get across. They are much more likely to download an audio file and listen to it than open an email.

Podcast Responder Box

Podcast Responder

  • Podcast responder also supports Broadcasts - manage your own standard podcast feed or combine the dynamic and static together for even more powerful contacts with potential customers.

  • A simple to use web based interface so you can configure, monitor and add content anywhere in the world where you can get Internet access.

  • Monitor each feed – so you can see how popular your feed is and which of the audio or video files in the sequence are being downloaded. This is important because unlike an email autoresponder where the system usually informs you when someone un-subscribes, a RSS feed doesn't.

But you haven't answered my question - how does this increase my chances of making a Sale?

...sheer percentages. If from your website you currently have 10% of visitors leave their name and email, then round about another 5%-10% will find a way to subscribe to your audio feed. If say 15% of your email subscribers actually turn into customers then about the same (with the same text content only in audio format) are likely to become customers. If you do both then you've increased your sales. Of course because content delivered by Podcast Responder is  audio or video you can do so much more than with written text so you can up that to over 25% with good quality content.

Don't take just my word for it though, marketing superstars like Stephen Pierce, Alex Mandossian, Armand Morin,  Jim Edwards and Mike Filsaime are have been embracing multimedia alternatives to email marketing in a big way for a few years already - and making a lot of money in the process

Go on, think about it for a moment, do the math - just converting the extra 3-4% of visitors this way can have a huge impact on your bottom line. I know when I introduced a just a single video onto one of my other websites the conversions doubled - overnight! Think how much more you could make by tapping into this brand new customer base that avoids reading emails and junks most things instinctively...

So Here's the details...
...what Podcast Responder allows you to do:-

  • Configure an unlimted number of dynamically created RSS feedss with enclosures. You can have a sales feed to try and get more customers , a customer specific feed to reduce buyers remorse by training your customers on your products or services and inform them of special promotions. You can even deliver products using a feed!

  • Have an unlimted number of audio/video files associated with each feed . The only limit is your webhost space!

  • Create an unlimted number of broadcasts. Broadcasts are configured for specific dates rather than in a sequence, and you would use them for special promotions etc..

  • You can also use Broadcasts in Podcast Responder to manage your own standard podcast feed or combine the two for even more powerful contacts with potential customers.

  • Support for dozens of different audio and video file formats.

  • Use a simple web based interface so you can configure and change anywhere in the world where you can get Internet access.

  • Monitor each feed – so you can see how popular your feed is and which of the audio or video files in the sequence are being downloaded. This is important because unlike an email autoresponder where the system usually informs you when someone un-subscribes, a RSS feed does not do that.

Tell me, what do I need to run this software?

The software is written in php and uses a mysql database. It runs from your webhost alongside your website. It is easily installed on your webhosting service but to check you just need the webhost to support the following:-
  • PHP 4 or 5
  • Mysql 3 or later
  •  Preferably Apache as a server (IIS requires a slight modification to the program)

If you can install (or find someone who can install for you) wordpress or joomla then Podcast Responder is no  different. It comes with an installation script that does pretty much everything for you - just fill in the form click ok and it's ready to login and add feeds immediately.  You could be up and running in less than 10 minutes!

Ok so you have a webhost, what else will you need? Some Audio or Video files to create your message sequence. To begin with a microphone and some free recording software will get you started.  Or alternatively screen capture programs like Camtasia or Camstudio can be used.  It's not that difficult to create content in Audio or Video format anymore - just do a search on YouTube for Camtasia, Moviemaker, Camstudio or Audacity and you'll find tons of tutorial videos; just the tip of the iceberg...

Alternatively you could farm out the audio or video production via elance or one of the specialist voice over artists - it all depends on how big your marketing budget is.

You don't need to be a technical expert - just a little practice with a microphone, some simple recording software and you'll be turning out fabulous audio messages quite quickly.

How much is this going to cost me?

Originally I developed this software just for my use. But after a few people almost broke my hand off wanting a copy I was persuaded to let it out to the public. As this is brand new system and has never been done before online, I could charge a huge amount for the software.  A quick search found me a few own server based Email Autoresponders in the $150 range. Or alternatively a year of a hosted autoresponder is likely to be $220 or even much more. The software is delivered online so there are no shipping costs to worry about or delays mailing it to you and it's available for immediate download 24x7.

So how much? $470 ? $250? $199?. No I'm not going to charge anywhere as near that much because I want no excuse for you to get started as soon as possible and join, with me, the exclusive group of marketers who are riding the crest of the wave of online audio and Video. So as an introductory price it will cost you the measly sum of $97 $67 for the first 100 people who buy a copy. Then the price will go up - period.

Of course it's only fair to give you some guarantee and so if after installing, configuring and actively using Podcast Responder, if for any reason you do not feel that Podcast Responder has enhanced your business in someway over the next 54 days then you can request a full refund.
